Average cost for a complete HoM? - Guild Wars Forums

I'm semi new to GW, have only been playing for about a month or two. In that time I think I've gotten a pretty good understanding on most of the game except for one bigish part, the Hall of Monuments.The only thing I know about the HoM is that if It's complete or close it'll help my GW2 characters a good deal. I also know it'll be time consuming and probably be rather expensive just not sure how expensive or how much of a time sink.

So my question is. On average how much does a 30/50 HoM cost and how long does it usually take to complete? Extra info: I do have all of the games if that lowers the average cost or time required by even the slightest amount

EDIT: i didn't realize things stopped being useful after 30 so if anyone still reads this could you answer in just the 30 easiest points in term of cost and time

Well, I had 500e and i ended up needing more. I think after I had maxed all the monuments (minus titles) it was close to 700 ectoz. i also straight popped for a Zaishen r3 title which was quite a bit of extra cost. if you can manage yourself a PVP title outside of that you might be able to do the 50/50 for 500-600e.

Having all 4 games does nothing to reduce your cost unless you plan on spending ridiculous amounts of time trying to farm the mats for your armors. I'm also going with no time reduction as well, if anything it will increase your time because you have access to be able to do more.

Remember titles are your hardest/longest things to do, also the most heavily weighed in the HOM. You could max all the other monuments in a ~week if you already have all the heroes.

Geez. If I had to take a guess without doing the math behind it, I'd say well north of 10 mil gold at this point and that's being conservative. Again, without doing the math, and assuming you have nothing in HoM, I'd venture to guess around 50-100 million gold for 50/50.

Not exactly. Items gained through the HoM are for the most part aesthetic. only a few things will be helpful, such as the armor and a few weapons, and that will only give you a small advantage very early in the game. (maybe).

Further, you stop receiving item rewards in gw2 once you reach 30/50 on your HoM. anything after that is just some titles to show other people how hard you grinded in gw1.

So don't think that you have to have 50/50 to be successful in gw2, lol.

Be sure to type your name into the HoM Calculator to see what you currently have and also to see what would be easiest for you to achieve for the most points. There are guides floating around here somewhere explaining the easiest routes to take for 30/50. (the amount you need to achieve all physical rewards. what most people shoot for as a minimum.)

With titles included, you could spend a upwards of 500e-1000e, and with time it would be many, many hours. It really depends on how much you play and do. A few weeks to several months to even years.

All you need is one piece of armor to identify yourself as a "vet." You get that right away. Even people with 30/50 will find gear they like better in GW 2. Depends on how much trouble it is to keep the HoM reward gear leveled up; but after some point maybe a hat, maybe a special weapon.

HoM is a hobby for GW 1 players with a bit of what will turn out to be short lived snob appeal. GW 2 is where it all will be.

As far as i understand it, nothing coming from the HoM will be "useful" in GW2, rather, they will be the same things every GW2 players can almost immediately achieve from in-game play, but with some different skin, or perhaps some useless thing like minipets etc.. So, i would give you the advice not to trying to fill your HoM because you feel the need of doing so for GW2, but do it only if you find it fun.

OT: 30/50 is fairly easy and cheap to obtain, just play through the game maxing the "playing" titles (protectors, skill hunters, cartographer if you feel like doing it, vanquishers, guardians, eotn ones, etc..), then play some challenge mission to get heroes' armors and get the pet needed to fill the 2nd monument, play a bit of the WiK content to gain some medal of honour to get some oppressor's weapon, and buy some destroyers' one if you have extra cash.

Just play through the game and maybe read some guide to know how to speed up the process of acquiring those titles, and you will easily find yourself with more than those 30 points.

1000k or less. just playing the game is about 20-25 titles. the last 5 or 6 cost the time and/or money depending how you do it or look at it.

also i'm not sure how people are spending 100 ecots or more. i'm just taking my time to get to 50.

I'll give you an estimate of how much it will probably cost/would have cost me to get the way I did to 30/50 HoM...most of the items I farmed myself so it only cost me time, but you can straight up buy most of the items for HoM credit if you want to save time, save money, etc... therefore:

My estimate ~= 1984k or 265e (@7.5k/e)

Devotion - 3/8 ~ 130k
Rare Minature Statue (1pt) - I paid 40k for undead celestial rabbit
Unique Miniature Statue (1pt) - I think a black moa goes for ~90k
Any Miniature Statue (1pt) - gained by meeting one of the above requirements

Fellowship - 7/8 ~160k
Any Rare Pet Statue (1pt) - I captured the Black Moa, so only cost was time. I don't think you can buy this any way...
Any Pet Statue (1pt) - gained by meeting the above requirement
20 Companion Statues (4pts) - You can buy hero armor for ~8k per hero (Cloth of the Brotherhood, Primeval Armor Remnant, etc...) Getting the heros are actually gained by playing...can't go and buy them so here's another time investment.

if you are slowly playing then technically it wouldn't cost you anything except time.

the 300e estimate is assuming you dont play and just buy the 30 points straight.

Agreed, gw1 titles dont mean anything in GW2. If you can even say that about titles. The gifts you get from your HoM will be the same like thousend of others so you will get the GW2 specific armour and titles.

You spent 1200k on a pvp title worth only 3 points...

you coulda either filled up both your armor and weapon hom for alot less than that

im currently working on filling my hom, and it costs alot less than your guy's estimate my estimate is 500k

i bought 18 cheap white minis for around 5k each, a gold rurik for 35k, and am planning on doing the scavenger hunt so around 135k

armor remnants go for around 7k each, with 25 (i think) heroes, this totals around 170k (NOTE: im actually planning on farming the remnants myself, is alot cheaper and doesnt take much time)

most statues are easy, finish nightfall, factions, do the last mish in proph and get 3 statues, (complete mish/bonus for 3 more statues, in hm for 3 more statues) finish uw, fow, deep, urgoz, sorrows, etc in nm for several more statues, get the kurzick and luxon title rank 4 easily, and do lucky and unlucky rank 2 at boardwalk for 80k. there are several more easy ones, but these are the easiest ones off the top of my head. 80k

for armor i bought kurzick armor, one proph armor (expensive, but i like how it looks), and then the 3 cheap armors (ancient, asura, vanguard) around 250-350k

for weps, i bought a destroyer and got an opressor by playing through wik 35k

doing all this nets 30 points, or close to it

People who say it doesn't cost them anything: of course it does.

The zaishen title for example costs you over 1000k. Even if you farm all the keys yourself, you could sell them for over 1000k instead of getting the title, so effectively it does cost you that much (not to mention the time farming them).

Same with armors, consumable titles, pretty much anything that costs anything. By farming them and buying the armors with the farmed materials or getting the titles by using the farmed consumables, you are missing the gold you could have gotten by selling the materials/consumables.

So all in all it does not matter whether you buy the materials/consumables/zkeys etc. or farm them yourself, it will cost you the same.

Of course, if you have a farm that gets you enough money to buy a title/armor etc. faster than you could have gotten that title/armor by farming it yourself, you are actually saving money/time.

I'm not actually sure if your achievements in the HoM all disappear if you account gets hacked and they delete all your characters. Doesn't say anything on the wiki...Imagine the cost of having to do it all over again...
